Synopsis

What is TRUTH?

In the world of politics, TRUTH has many meanings, politically speaking.

The second Prime Minister of Independent India Lal Bahadur Shastri died under mysterious circumstances in Tashkent Uzbekistan, (which was a part of Soviet Russia back then), hours after signing the peace accord with Pakistan, and a whole new set of truths, each different from the other started to emerge. ‘He had a heart attack’, ‘He was poisoned’, ‘He had tumbled on a state secret and wanted to make it public’.

As there were many truths there were many questions too. Did CIA kill him? Was it the KGB? Was it a state sponsored Murder? Was it simply a heart attack?

It’s been 50 years since his death and we still don’t know the truth.

When an ambitious rookie, fake story publishing journalist Ragini Phule lands this goldmine case article, she thinks it’s her big ticket to fame & fortune. Even after 50 years of his death, the government comes under a lot of pressure from the opposition leader Shyam Sunder Tripathi. Hence the Home Minister PVK Natrajan, decides to institute an 8 people committee to find out the truth. However, what pans out is the highest level of politics, with each person being played a pawn by the other. 8 people inside the committee and half a dozen outside are at war with one another. Each trying to prove their own theory as the truth. Ragini embarks on this impossible journey equipped with nothing but patriotism and her diligence to seek the truth. Will the citizens of India ever know the truth? Or will this remain hidden forever?

In a democracy what ultimately survives? The Truth, or the politics of truth?
