About the Journal

Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (SH&SS) is a bi-annual, peer-reviewed, double-blind, interdisciplinary journal published by the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, with its first issue rolling out in 1994. The Journal was conceived along with the inception of the Inter-University Center to fill in for the much needed platform that promoted theoretical thinking and conceptual clarifications. The Journal engages, on a conceptual plane, with issues relating to our understanding of man, civilization, culture, and society. It takes this concern as both its regulative, as well as constitutive, maxim.

Aims and Scope:

Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (SH&SS) is an important addition to the activities of the Inter-University Centre which is a part of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. SH&SS is a peer-reviewed journal that welcomes high-quality manuscripts on both theoretical thinking and debate related to the understanding of man, civilization, culture, and society. It will encourage issues relating to our understanding of man, civilization, culture, and society. The primary goal of the journal is to maintain high-quality publications. The journal shall do our utmost to see that it does achieve the standards of excellence that we have set for it and that it makes an authentic contribution to the understanding of our contemporary predicaments.

 

Submissions sent up to March are being consisted for the june issue. Theme for the december issue will be announced shortly. Please do not send in submissions before the theme is announced.

The summited manuscripts (s) should cover the following subfields of Social Science and Humanities:  

  1. The social, political, and economic philosophy
  2. Comparative Indian literature
  3. Comparative studies in philosophy and religion;
  4. Development of world-views;
  5. Education, culture, arts including performing arts and crafts;
  6. Fundamental concepts and problems of logic and mathematics;
  7. Fundamental concepts and problems of natural and life sciences;
  8. Studies in environment
  9. Indian civilization in the context of its Asian
  10. neighbours and the world;
  11. Problems of contemporary India in the context of national integration and nation-building
