Research Project Knowledge and Subjects: Situating Ayurveda through Life Stories of Practitioners
About:K P Girija is currently a Fellow at IIAS. She completed her PhD from Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore. She is a Chemistry graduate with a Post Graduation in Women’s Studies.

She had been a referee for the Kendra Sahitya Akademi, Balasahitya Puraskar in 2016 and 2018. She has been engaged with the research on politics and history of knowledge, specifically examining the healing practices of Kerala. She worked on a project on the enunciation of hierarchies in schools and produced a manuscript for Anveshi Research Centre for Women’s Studies, Hyderabad. She also published a book in Malayalam, Marikkatha Thaalukal (Unfurled Leaves) on the life of an intellectual and naxalite woman of the 1940s in Kerala apart from many translated works.

As part of her fellowship at IIAS, she will examine the life narratives of Ayurveda practitioners and map out a cultural history of Ayurveda.
