Research Project “Decolonizing Cannabis: History, Hegemony, and Opportunities”
About: Dr. Prasenjeet Tribhuvan is a Social Anthropologist. He completed his PhD from the Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. He is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at IIT, Rajasthan (Jodhpur) and is currently a Fellow at IIAS, Shimla. Prasenjeet’s research interests lie at the intersections of youth studies, material cultures studies and study of Himalayan societies. In his project at IIAS, he is studying how colonial legacy persists in erstwhile colonies through material culture, with cannabis as his main object of study. Prasenjeet’s work will contribute in demystifying and de-colonizing cannabis and clear a way for its future use.Prasenjeet has a few international publications to his name and is currently also working on a monograph based on his PhD research. Apart from his main research interests, Prasenjeet has interests in continental philosophy, Beat literature and listening to different genres of metal music.
