Contribution of Grihya Sutras in Indian Tradition: Education (Sanskar), Culture and Modern Society
About: 

Dr. Subodh Kant Mishra is currently a Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, where he is engaged in research on “The Contribution of Grihyasutras in Indian Tradition: In the Context of Education, Culture, and Modern Society.” He earned his Ph.D. in Sanskrit from Banaras Hindu University in 2023, following which he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sanskrit at BHU. He holds a Masters degree in Sanskrit from the University of Delhi (2018) and an additional Master’s degree in Hindu Studies with distinction.

Specializing in Dharmashastra, Dr. Mishra’s doctoral thesis “A Critical Study on Manavdharmsar Granth concerning Ancient Smritis” in Sanskrit reflects his scholarly engagement with classical Indian legal and ethical traditions. He has qualified the UGC-NET in Sanskrit (2019, 2020) and secured the UGC-NET-JRF in Hindu Studies (2022). His academic merit has been recognized through the Indian Council of Philosophical Research by granting him Junior Research Fellowship (2020–2022) and other accolades, including being named the Second best performer in his Master’s program at Shri Venkateshwar College, University of Delhi.

An experienced educator, Dr. Mishra has served as guest faculty in the Faculty of Sanskrit (SVDV), teaching courses on Vidya, Dharma, and Vigyan. He is also a member of the editorial boards of reputed journals and has published extensively in UGC-CARE-listed and peer-reviewed journals. His research contributions continue to bridge traditional Sanskrit scholarship with contemporary academic discourse
