Academic Programme: Conference/ Seminar
The Institute has been established with an objective to promote creative thoughts in the areas which have been deep human significance and to provide an environment suitable for academic research. It offers facilities for the organization of seminars, workshops, lectures, and symposium and winter schools to stimulate knowledge and exchange of ideas, featuring multi-disciplinary set of scholars who are among the leaders in their respective fields. These seminars and workshops can be organized by academicians or scholars, affiliated to the academic and government Institutions in India and abroad.
The Institute aims to invite and attract world-class academicians, industry leaders, subject experts, and policy makers and analysts from the public, nonprofit, and private sectors to participate in seminar and deliver lectures in the seminars.

Seminar/ Conferences:
The Institute invite proposals for seminars from academicians affiliated with universities, colleges, and research and development institutions. We encourage scholars and experts in various fields to submit detailed seminar proposals that align with our commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering intellectual growth. This initiative aims to create a dynamic platform for academic exchange, where innovative ideas and research can be shared with a broader audience. Proposals that demonstrate a strong potential to contribute to the academic community and inspire meaningful discussions are highly welcomed..
1.1 How to apply?
The seminar proposals should focus on addressing emerging national issues and exploring new interdisciplinary themes. Applicants, serving as Conveners, are encouraged to select any academic subject within the scope of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Proposals that aim to tackle contemporary challenges and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration are especially encouraged, as they align with our goal of contributing to the broader understanding and resolution of critical societal concerns. Applicants are requested to submit their proposals using the prescribed format available on the website.
1.2 Whom to Submit?
Applications for conferences and seminars can be submitted to the Director, IIAS, director@iias.ac.in, aro@iias.ac.in using the prescribed format available for download on the institute’s website at- www.iias.ac.in.
1.3 Duration of conference:
The duration of the seminar is for two to three days.
1.4 Who Can Apply?
Current Fellows in residence, former Fellows, and teaching faculty affiliated with educational and research institutions in India and abroad are eligible to apply. The individual submitting the proposal will be designated as the Convener, though multiple Conveners may be appointed for the seminar. Proposals should be submitted using the application form available on the website. All proposals received from Conveners will be reviewed by the Academic Committee for consideration.
1.5 Role of Convener:
The Convener's responsibilities include the following:
- Submitting the proposal
- Selecting tentative names of invited speakers
- Coordinating with the invited speakers and select date of conference
- Preparing the program schedule in consultation with IIAS
- Selecting papers submitted in response to the call for papers
- Editing the final publishable papers according to standard norms and guidelines
1.6 Outcome of seminar:
The Convener is responsible for collecting articles from participants and submitting the publishable proceedings within two months. After a review, the Institute will publish these proceedings.
1.7 When to Apply
Applications or proposals can be submitted throughout the year. The seminar can take place between March to December.
