| About: Professor Alok Kumar Gupta is a noted Critic, Translator of Hindi. His poems have been published in various prestigious literary journals. He has a doctoral degree on the subject, “ Muktibodh: Yugchetana aur abhivyati” from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad.Having worked in Gujarat for a life-time, Alok Gupta has been reviewing and translating from Gujarati into Hindi and Hindi into Gujarati from the last 30 years. He has published 5 critical books, 8 books of translation from Gujarati to Hindi , 5 books of translation from Hindi to Gujarati and 12 edited books to his credit . He has been awarded Ramvilas Sharma Alochana Samman 2006 in the field of criticism and he has been awarded Sahitya Gaurav Puraskar by Hindi Sahitya Akademy, Gandhinagar award 2018 in his contribution in Hindi Language and Literature Gujarat region. Also he has been awarded Sahitya Akademy Translation Prize 2019 for his outstanding translation, Saraswatichandra (Vol. I& IV). A dedicated teacher and inspiring mentor, Prof Gupta has nearly four decades of teaching and research experience. He holds an expertise in the areas of Modern Hindi Literature, Indian Literature, Comparative Literature, and Translation Studies. Benefitting from this expertise and able guidance are scores of students and researchers, out of whom more than 21 researchers have been awarded their Ph.D. Degrees and 61 researchers have got their M.Phil .Degrees. It is interesting to note that Prof Gupta has Major Research Project titled ‘Swatantrayottar Hindi aur Gujarati samiksha: parampra aur aadhunikta ke dvandva’ (2009-2011) and a Minor Research Project titled ‘Hindi aur Gujarati ke Aanchalik Upanyason mein Nirupit swatantrayottar Gram Jivan’ (1996-1997) to his credit along with a host of pressing academic commitments. Institution building is a noble, yet huge responsibility and Prof Gupta has shouldered the same as Officiating Registrar of Central University of Gujarat from February 2018 to March 2021 along with being the Dean of School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies at the Central University of Gujarat. Prof Gupta has been active on the academic circle and rendered his expert advice as Chairman of Board of Hindi Studies at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Surat, Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar and on various other advisory and Welfare Committees.Some important Publications: Criticism: Translation: Edited: |
