About:Dr. Tek Chand Koul is a familiar signature in the field of music today. Dr. Koul is one of the leading disciples of eminent & renowned Classical Vocalist Padam-shri Prof.Som Dutt Battu of Patiala Gharana. Dr.Koul is the 1st Post-Doc Fellow of U.G.C (Music Department, H.P.U) in Music from Himachal and after joining the Indian Institute of Advanced Study as Fellow, he also has become the 1st Fellow of IIAS in Music from Himachal. He has done M.A. (Vocal), M. Phil (Vocal) and Ph.D in Music from H.P.U, Shimla. He is U.G.C-NET qualified and also has done Sangeet Prabhakar (Vocal) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. Along with all the disciplines of Classical Music, Semi-Classical Music and Light Music, Dr. Koul is well versed in Gurmat Sangeet (Shabad-Kirtan) as well. Dr. Koul is an approved artist from Radio and Doordarshan. He is the 1st and only approved artist of A.I.R in Semi-Classical Music (Thumri-Dadra) from Himachal. Along with singing, he also can play many musical instruments like Harmonium, Tabla, Guitar, Keyboard etc. Dr. Koul has performed in all over Himachal and other parts of the country. Dr. Koul has been honoured by many social organizations including Himachal Government; among them is "Kashitij Samman (Emerging Artist in Music)" by the Department of Language and Culture, H.P.Goverment and "Kala Aparnaji" by Bhimsen Music Foundation Khadag, Karnataka. During Post-Doc, Dr. Koul also has taken the regular classes of P.G and U.G in the Music Department, H.P.U Shimla and also has actively participated in the academic activities of the department. Dr. Koul has presented many of his lectures, demonstrations and performances in various music seminars, workshops and music programs. Dr Koul has done his Ph.D (2011) in the context of ‘Ghazal’ and Post-Doc (2016-2021) in ‘Music Therapy & Psychology.’ Now in Indian Institute of Advanced Study his research project is related to the Music, Aesthetics, Spirituality and Philosophy of different Saints and Spiritual leaders who have visited Himachal Pradesh.

Dr Tek Chand Koul has published almost 6 books and 4 Books with chapters in books. He has published more than 30 research papers and research articles in national and international journals, Magazines and newspapers. He has participated in 3 International conferences, 6 National conferences and almost 6 webinars organized by   various National/International reputed organizations and institutions.
