Dr. Mili Singh, is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Mass Communication with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and media practice. She holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, and has qualified the UGC-NET in the same field. Over the years, she has worked in various academic capacities, including as Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Postdoctoral Fellow (UGC) and ICSSR Postdoctoral Fellow at Mizoram University, Aizawl, where she contributed extensively to media research in India’s North-East. Her research interests encompass tribal communication, marginalized media narratives, social media psychology, judicial communication, and media literacy. Dr. Singh has authored a book titled “A Study of Media Impact on Judiciary” and has published more than 30 research papers in UGC-listed and peer-reviewed national and international journals, covering diverse themes such as digital transformation in higher education, media coverage of climate change, traditional media's impact on judicial officers, and caste-based media representation. She has presented papers at numerous national and international seminars, including conferences held in Thailand and Nepal, and has delivered guest lectures on ethnographic research. Dr. Singh is a recognized reviewer for reputed journals such as the Journal of Communication Inquiry (SAGE) and Asian Journal of Education and Social Studies. She also brings practical experience as a freelance journalist and scriptwriter, having contributed to media houses like ETV Lucknow and Hamara Mahanagar, Mumbai. In recognition of her academic service and leadership, she received the Excellence Award for 2023–24 from SRMU. Her ongoing research project at IIAS, “Tribal Communication in India: A Systematic Literature Review of Tribal Studies,” is a culmination of her long-standing engagement with issues of tribal representation and media marginality. She served as an Assistant Professor at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Lucknow, and as Fellow at IIAS Shimla, she aims to contribute meaningfully to interdisciplinary discourse and policy-relevant scholarship on communication among India’s indigenous communities. |
