| About: A scholar of Sanskrit Linguistics with expertise in Phonology, Lexicons and Grammar, Dr. Suhasini integrates insights from classical Indian linguistic traditions with contemporary research methods, contributing to the study of Sanskrit, Prakrit, Persian and Modern Indian Languages and Scripts in present-day contexts. She has worked as an Academic Counsellor for M.A. (Sanskrit) courses at SOL, University of Delhi. She has also taught the Diploma courses in Sanskrit and Prakrit in the University of Delhi and Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai as a Visiting Lecturer respectively. In addition to it, she runs a Trust called Ananvaya Nyāsaḥ where she is majorly responsible for Curriculum Design and Pedagogy Development, particularly in Bhāratīya Languages and Scripts. One of her major contributions in this role has been serving as the linguistic advisor for the development of a Transliteration Software tool called Lipilāsyam. Her M.Phil. and Ph.D. research investigates an almost unexplored area in Sanskrit linguistics, critically and statistically examining the phenomenon of free variation in Sanskrit phonology and its intersections with allied languages such as Prakrit and Persian. Her findings open up new possibilities for interdisciplinary research in Bhāratīya languages and lexicon. Alongside her core specialization, Dr. Suhasini has actively pursued multidisciplinary studies. She holds Diplomas in a range of subjects including Prakrit, Persian and Manuscriptology. She has widened her academic training by earning various basic and advanced level certifications in Phonetics and Phonology, Applied Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Neurolinguistics, Sociolinguistics, Translation Studies, Language Documentation, Pauṣpī Prakriyā of Sanskrit Grammar, Applied Persian Grammar, Palaeography and several Indian Scripts and two Modern Indian Languages from significant institutions like the University of Mumbai, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, University of Gujarat, Aligarh Muslim University, the IITs, Deccan College, Culture House of Iran, Bhogilal Leherchand Institute of Indology, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Pāṇinīya Śodha Saṁsthāna, National Mission for Manuscripts, Central Institute of Indian Languages etc. A recipient of JRF (UGC–NET), she has been recognised with the Sanskrit Pratibha Puraskar from the Delhi Sanskrit Academy and four Academic Excellence Awards from the University of Delhi. Her research papers have been published in reputed journals such as Himāñjali, Prācī Prajñā, and Sambodhi. Adding a fresh dimension to her academic trajectory, the research project undertaken by Dr. Suhasini at IIAS aims to foster meaningful connections among the languages of the greater Bhāratīya linguascape through a sociolinguistic lens. |
