Dr. Tahsin Mazhar is a fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, where she is currently working on a research project titled “बाउल गीत और हिंदी भक्ति काव्य में लोक-चेतना: लालन शाह और कबीर के विशेष संदर्भ में तुलनात्मक अध्ययन.” She is an accomplished scholar with over eight years of research experience, focusing on the comparative study of Hindi and Bangla literature.
She was awarded her Ph.D. in 2024 by the Department of Hindi, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Her doctoral research, titled “कामायनी और शारदामंगल में स्त्री छवियों का अध्ययन,” explored the portrayal of women in the poetry of Jaishankar Prasad, a leading figure of Hindi Chhayavad, and Biharilal Chakraborty, a pioneer of Bengali Romanticism. She earned her M.Phil. from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2019. Her dissertation, titled “प्रथम प्रतिश्रुति और मित्रो मरजानी में स्त्री जीवन का तुलनात्मक अध्ययन,” offered a comparative analysis of Ashapurna Devi’s Bengali novel ‘Pratham Pratishruti’ and Krishna Sobti’s Hindi novel ‘Mitro Marjani’, with a focus on the representation of women’s lives.
In 2024, she was selected for the ICSSR Postdoctoral Fellowship and was affiliated with Jamia Millia Islamia as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Earlier, in 2017, she was awarded the Maulana Azad National Fellowship by the University Grants Commission (UGC). She has qualified the UGC-NET examination multiple times in the subject of Hindi. Dr. Tahsin holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Hindi from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. She also holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. Earlier, she completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Hindi from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal.
Her research papers have been published in various academic books and journals, including UGC CARE-listed journals such as Bhartiya Adhunik Shiksha (NCERT) and Apni Maati. In addition, her articles and reviews have appeared in reputed magazines and newspapers, including India Today, Jansatta, and Dainik Jagran. |
